Llan, huntsman to King Glenys

Llan the Huntsman

Huntsman to King Glenys, who lost a hand in Kildealg

They found Llan’s hand on the trail first, and the front half of a pig dragged into a dark ring of ancient oaks. They found the rest of him alive in the clearing: long dark hair, a forked beard going grey, weather in every line of him, the king’s heavy gold still at his throat over river-brown leathers, and Of the Tree’s song over what was left of the arm.

What took his hand and left him the rest — and why did his king walk on and leave him lying there?
